Frequently Asked Questions

Son of the Void Studio creates handcrafted woodwork, functional objects, and studio pieces. Work ranges from practical builds like planters and furniture to experimental and multimedia pieces. Custom projects are also available. I am an artist of many mediums and have a clear idea about what I can and cannot take on. So send the message! Let’s see if we can make it happen!
-
Getting started is simple.
If you’re purchasing from the product page, work will begin as soon as payment is confirmed. Updates will be provided for confirmation, completion, and shipping/pickup.
Looking for something else? A custom order or just to see if your idea is possible? Reach out through our contact form (click ‘Request a Custom Build’ in the top right corner).
-
For custom projects, details such as materials, measurements, timeline, pricing, and shipping or pickup will be finalized in the project invoice.
Once an invoice is issued, the customer has 7 days to submit the required deposit. This deposit secures your project and locks in the quoted price.
Upon project completion, a final invoice for the remaining balance will be issued. The remaining balance must be paid within two weeks of completion, unless otherwise agreed upon.
After final payment is received, shipping or pickup details will be arranged.
-
Each item is priced individually based on the time, materials, and complexity involved in the build. As a small studio, I aim to keep pricing fair and competitive while reflecting the work that goes into each piece.
Prices may occasionally change over time due to material costs, studio expenses, or other factors, particularly for art or limited pieces.
For custom projects, once a final quote is provided, that price is held for 7 days. A deposit within that time secures the quoted price and begins the project. After 7 days, pricing may need to be reassessed.
-
For items purchased through the website, please allow 1–2 weeks for processing, as each piece is handmade. If an item is already completed and in stock, it will be processed and shipped as soon as possible.
For custom orders, estimated timelines will be provided in your quote. If any unexpected delays occur during production, you will be notified as soon as possible.
-
Local customers may choose studio pickup during checkout. Pickup scheduling and the studio address will be provided after purchase.
If paying with a card, payment must be completed online. If paying with cash or another payment method, please have payment ready at the time of pickup.
Pickup is available only for local customers. Please do not select this option if you are unable to pick up locally in Sacramento (95820).
-
Orders that require shipping will be carefully packaged and shipped via postal service. Once shipped, tracking information will be provided. Shipping speeds typically range from 2–7 business days, depending on the service selected.
For oversized or freight shipments, shipping arrangements and pricing will be outlined in the final quote or invoice and confirmed once the shipment has been arranged.
Please note that once a package has been shipped, delivery timelines and parcel status are controlled by the carrier. Issues such as delays, lost packages, or shipping damage must be handled directly with the shipping provider.
-
Shipping prices are based solely on the cost charged by the carrier. Son of the Void Studio does not profit from shipping and often absorbs part of the cost to keep work accessible to customers outside the local area.
Because shipping rates fluctuate, shipping prices may change based on adjustments made by the shipping provider.
-
The materials used for each piece including wood species, stains, oils, paint, and finishes will always be detailed in the item listing or invoice.
Adhesives and finishes used in the studio are selected carefully and verified to be appropriate and safe for their intended use (including food-safe or decorative applications where applicable).
-
As with any natural material, there is always the potential for allergies, particularly with certain wood species or finishing oils.
Material details are provided so customers can make informed decisions before purchasing. Customers with nut or wood allergies should carefully review the materials listed. If you have any concerns regarding materials or potential sensitivities, please reach out before purchasing.
-
You will receive a piece made to the same design, dimensions, and materials described in the listing. However, wood grain and handmade work naturally vary.
Each piece is unique. Think of handmade pieces as siblings rather than identical twins. Slight variations in grain, tone, and detail are part of what makes each item one of a kind.
-
Returns are not accepted for items purchased through the website. Deposits for custom projects are non-refundable, as they secure materials and studio time.
If there are any issues with your order or project, please reach out so we can work toward a solution.
